Large quantities of over-mature fir plantation in Miyazaki Prefecture of Japan need to be logged urgently. However, there is a limited demand for it on Japanese market. Recently Japanese Miyazaki Prefecture’s forest union sent commercial delegation to Fujian Province of China for searching the opportunity of exporting Japan cedar to Fujian. In order to deepen Chinese understanding of Japan cedar, Japanese Miyazaki Prefecture’s forest union exhibited a Japan folk-style moveable wooden house in Fujian’s Academy of Forestry of Fuzhou City and exhibited Japan cedar sawnwood and log.

Japan cedar is a kind of better timber for construction, especially suitable for building high class villa. It has a good flexibility, decay and insect resistance as well as fragrant scent. Its face is glossy but has many nodes. The physical properties such as timber quality, color, decorative pattern are similar to Fujian-grown cedar. However, import cost of Japan cedar is 2 or 3 times higher than that of Fujian cedar and it is a prohibitive cost for many units.
